getting to Woolworths Carols in the Domain

As Australia's largest free public event, Saturday's Woolworths Carols in the Domain is expected to draw a crowd of over 50,000 people. To ensure carol goers remain safe and secure, organisers have released helpful tips for those planning on attending.

"The most important message is to plan ahead - give yourself plenty of time to travel to the venue and secure your position on the lawn," said Shauna Kane, Co-Executive Producer of Woolworths Carols in the Domain.

"There are a number of activities scheduled throughout the day, with the event carnival commencing at midday and pre-show entertainment set to kick off at 3pm, so there's loads to do if you arrive early," she continued.

Organisers are also urging attendees to prepare for the weather conditions, whatever they may be.

"Be sun safe and remember to slip, slop, slap. Also be sure to plan ahead and bring appropriate clothing for the forecasted weather conditions," added Shauna.

"Eat well, drink plenty of water and ensure you have some trusty insect repellent on hand."

Carol goers are reminded that Woolworths Carols in the Domain is a family friendly event and in the spirit of Christmas, audience members are asked to be respectful of people at all times.

"We have people of all ages attending Carols and ask that everyone remains patient and courteous throughout the event," Shauna explained.

"Traffic can also become congested around the Domain so we encourage attendees to use public transport where possible and keep abreast of traffic and public transport updates.

"There's also a chance that the venue may reach capacity, so be sure to listen to Smooth FM and check the Woolworths Carols in the Domain website, Facebook page and Twitter feed for real-time event updates," she added.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is set to be a truly memorable event this year, with a star-studded line-up including Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, The Wiggles, Jessica Mauboy, Human Nature, Samantha Jade, Johnny Ruffo, Stan Walker, Dami Im, Jai Waetford, Mark Vincent, Amanda Harrison, Justine Clarke the casts of GREASE the Musical, Strictly Ballroom the Musical and Angelina Ballerina the ‘Mousical', as well as a special performance from Kelly Clarkson.

"If everyone remembers to be safe, respectful and prepared, this is expected
to be the best year yet for Woolworths Carols in the Domain," Shauna concluded.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is on Saturday 21 December 2013. The Seven Network's live broadcast begins at 8:30pm and the show will be broadcast on SmoothFM - 95.3FM Sydney or 91.5FM Melbourne.
