As veterans of the annual Christmas event, it is only fitting that Australia's famous foursome The Wiggles will be making their final television appearance at this year's Woolworths Carols in the Domain on Saturday 22 December 2012.
At this year's event Murray, Jeff and Greg will officially hand over their coloured skivvies to the new generation of Wiggles and say their final farewells to the Australian community that has shown them so much support over their 21 years of touring and performing.
"Woolworths Carols in the Domain has always been a special event for us, which is why we will be using this year's performance as an opportunity to introduce Australia to the new members of The Wiggles and to say goodbye to our wonderful fans," said Murray.
"We are really looking forward to performing for the last time at Woolworths Carols in the Domain and sharing this moment with families across Australia," he added.
"The event is really close to our hearts and we have loved being part of this wonderful Christmas tradition for almost 20 years," explained Jeff.
"We hope that the new Wiggles will continue this tradition for years to come - everyone can use a bit of wiggly cheer during Christmas time," he continued.
Jeff, Murray and Greg all plan to take on backstage creative roles, while Anthony will continue on stage as the Blue Wiggle alongside Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce, who have been handpicked by the group to become the new Yellow, Purple and Red Wiggles.
"We are excited to officially introduce Australia to our new Wiggles and have a very special performance planned," said Anthony.
Earlier this year, The Wiggles announced that 2012 will mark their final year of touring together as Anthony, Murray, Jeff and Greg and they will play their final concert at Sydney Entertainment Centre the day after Woolworths Carols in the Domain.
With 2012 marking the 30th year of Australia's largest free public event, Woolworths Carols in the Domain will celebrate many other special milestones this year, with its exciting children's line up also including Georgie Parker, Jay Laga'aia and an Ice Age 4 spectacular with Sid and Scrat.
X Factor winner Samantha Jade and finalists The Collective will alsobe hitting the stage, with Mark Vincent, Rachael Beck, John Waters, Troy Cassar-Daley, The Ten Tenors, the legendary Doug Parkinson, the cast of Legally Blonde The Musical and a host of others soon to beannounced.
For those who are unable to catch the action live at Woolworths Carols in the Domain hosted by Matt White and Natalie Barr, the Seven Network will broadcast the event live from 8:30pm.
In the true spirit of Christmas, The Salvation Army's Oasis Youth Support Network will be the recipient of funds gained through the sale of our official candle bags at the event.
