What to bring?

We encourage you to bring:

  • picnic rugs and ground seating
  • hat and sunscreen
  • free-standing shade structures (no pegs please)
  • plenty of Christmas cheer!

What not to bring?

  • Plastic ground cover
  • Elevated seating and large beach umbrellas
  • Glass products
  • Tent or camping pegs of any sort (metal, plastic or wooden), as they damage underground irrigation and are a hazard to picnickers and footballers using the Domain
  • Sparklers / Fireworks
  • Tents or marquees
  • Pets
  • BBQs
  • Bean bags or inflatable furniture
  • Please note: this is a family event it is alcohol restricted. Only bring small quantities of alcohol according to the safe drinking standards set out by the department of health - click here for guidelines. Intoxication will not be permitted.

Food and Beverages?

A fantastic variety of food is available throughout the venue. Food ranges from your traditional takeaway delights to Thai, Yum Cha and Turkish cuisine.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain is an alcohol restricted event:

  • Patrons bringing alcohol to the event will be monitored by security and the police.
  • Glass is not allowed at the Domain. Please bring plastic bottles or cans instead.
  • Remember to drink plenty of water throughout the event day.
  • Patrons who become intoxicated, abusive, offensive or quarrelsome will be removed from the site.
  • Please note that alcohol will not be sold at the venue during the event.

Limited Mobility?

A limited mobility viewing area is available for guests in wheelchairs. The location is adjacent to Central Avenue. Guests may be accompanied by a maximum of two carers inside the designated area. The area operates on a first come first served basis and generally reaches capacity in the early afternoon.

Please note that Carols does not have a dedicated accessible parking area available. However there is a vehicle drop off zone on the corner of Hospital and Art Gallery Roads. The Art Gallery of Sydney has a limited amount of accessible parking spaces available to the public on Art Gallery Road which will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Information / Lost Children

The first point of contact for all parents looking for lost children should be at the Information / Lost Children booth located stage right on Hospital Road.

This year we will have a second Information / Lost Children booth.

Both are manned by qualified Salvation Army representatives and is also your main area of contact regarding general event issues.

Please assist the Salvos with lost kids by writing your mobile phone number on their arm. This way we can contact you sooner.

Public Amenities

Toilets for people with disabilities are located at three points:

At the western end of the toilet blocks parallel to the Cahill Expressway
Near the disabled seating zone on Central Ave
Standard toilet blocks are available along the perimeters of The Domain precinct on Hospital Rd and Cahill Expressway.

Seating at the Event

Patrons are encouraged to bring picnic rugs and ground seating from home. Please note that high chairs and beach umbrellas cannot be used on the Domain site so be sure to bring your sunscreen and hat along with you.
